PLANTLAB

It was a massively inspiring, labor intensive and time consuming project. Together with brilliant chefs Matthew Kenney and Scott Winegard, we created PLANTLAB, a 300 page cook book published by Regan Arts / Phaidon.  29 days of shooting in LA, Miami and New York over a period of 5 months; cooking, styling and capturing a total of 222 images.

PLANTLAB celebrates innovative plant based cuisine. The 90-plus recipes employ a modern, creative approach organized in four sections that build on progressing skills: Fundamentals, Advanced, Professional, and Future of Food.

I have no doubt that this book will further transform how society views plant based cuisine and I’m very happy to be a part of this effort.

FoodPhoto Festival 2017

The FoodPhoto Festival in Denmark once again brought together some of the most renowned food photographers, stylists, art directors and magazine editors from 32 different countries, to exhibit their images, conduct workshops, portfolio reviews and conferences.  I was happy to attend again and to hold two workshops on Daylight Food Photography, as well as a conference on the same topic.  A big thank you to organizer Guenter Beer and his team, who did an amazing job producing the World’s only FoodPhoto Festival.  Here are some impressions from Vejle:

Archive’s 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide 2016/17

The joy to be selected again by Archive for ‘200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide 2016/17!  I was planning on working as a lifeguard in Hawaii, but it got postponed by the jury of Archive.  Sending my sincere gratitude to all who have collaborated with me over the years to create beautiful work, and most importantly, shared a good time.

Ragu

Lovely multi day shoot with agency Weber Shandwick for all the new point of sale and in-store displays for Ragu Spaghetti & Pasta Sauces here in the United States.  Space28 was the perfect work environment with the most beautiful & consistent daylight any food photographer could hope for.  Grateful to my incredible team & crew who made it a wonderful and pleasant experience, shooting 25 recipes in three days and getting it all done in time with a smile on all our faces.  See our behind the scenes footage here:

Cook Book with Linnea Johansson

Stay up late!

Here’s a quick preview of a cook book we’ve been working on this spring with a well known Swedish Chef…  No, not that one -> this one!  Linnea is just as funny, but actually knows how to cook.  Not sure about her meatball tennis skills, though.

Working title of our project:  Stay up late

Chapters and recipes all revolve around sharing a good meal & good drinks in good company.

I am very honored to have been selected again by Archive for ‘200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide’ this year.  Going with the flow and postponing my surfboard waxing & paddle board rental business for another 2 years I guess.  Until then, I am happy to have my work published alongside photographers such as Alex Telfer, Nadav Kander, Kenji Aoki, Chris Buck, James Day, Jason Hindley, Julia Fullerton Batten and many other brilliant artists.
