Anybody who knows me is well aware that beer is one of my absolute favorite beverages, to shoot and to enjoy after a good gig. Years back when I thought of clients I would love to work with, Stella Artois was always among the top of my list – beautiful aesthetics, clean lines, a clear visual identity & excellent beer. I’m very happy that I now got to collaborate with Stella on their Global Holiday Ad Campaign, through Mother NY. It was as much fun shooting the dancing chalices and bottles as it was to scream STELLLAAAAAAA all day long, trying to impersonate Marlon Brando in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire.’ It easily turned into one of the most enjoyable assignments of the year. The creatives at Mother were wonderful partners in this endeavour and my team made me look good, once again.
We continued our series with Maker’s Mark for their iconic Maker’s 46 Bourbon Whiskey. Since it is only made during the winter months, we’ve decided to shoot it on a frozen lake. In the studio. With real ice. Well, maybe it’s easier to understand if you watch the video below…
The Art Directors Club of New York selected 24 aspiring creatives from 24 different cities around the globe, during their ADC Portfolio Nights. Each Portfolio Night city selected one person as their Portfolio Night All-Star. Throughout the first week of August, the All-Stars traveled to New York, where they participated in the third installment of ADC Portfolio Night All-Stars Week, to work together on a real creative project for a global brand.
I had the pleasure of hosting this incredible group of young creatives at OFFSET for a Drinks Photography workshop and fun shenanigans afterwards. Take a peek to meet the ADC All-Stars:
Ingredients: 10 Lemon Verbena Leaves, 4 Mint Leaves, 1 Feijoa (Pineapple Guava, 1 Kiwifruit, 20ml Green Kawawa Tea Syrup, 10ml Fresh Lime Juice, 150 ml Mineral Water
Scoop fruit and place in glass with mint, verbena, lime and syrup. Lightly muddle together (do not puree). Top and fill with ice. Fill 2/3 with soda water. Use bar spoon to lightly mix. Top with ice then soda. Garnish with Lemon Verbena Sprig.
Feeling like changing the M in Mocktail to a C? Add Sweet Vermouth and you will start pronouncing Feijoa (fey-yoh–uh) perfectly within a half hour. Cheers!
Summer drinks shoot for Food Network in November? A little late in the season, one would think. Actually, not at all, since these drinks were shot to advertise the new FN summer drinks scented candles. That’s right – while the Turkey is in the oven and you are dreaming of the beach, you can light up a Cherry Lime Rickey candle to get your dose of scented Gin! You’re welcome.
It’s finally getting warmer – time to shoot and drink! New work with Bodum’s insulated double wall glasses. Unfortunately, when I drop my ice cold beverage from now on, it’s because I am either drunk or I have sweaty hands. Wonderful project to start the year, for Brazilian beer brand Skol. Photographed different liquid spills, throws, pours, splashes and explosions to create the shape of the new Skol bottle. Retouching was done by the fine people of Manipula. I worked with the new PhaseOne IQ 180, an absolutely stunning digital back. Many thanks again to Resource Magazine!
