Pouring caramel and bending it to our will! Definitely the slowest ‘splashes’ I’ve ever captured, but just as interesting and challenging. Special effects rigger: Mark Borow. Food Stylist: Takako Kuniyuki. Post Production: Leo Rocha.
Anheuser-Busch launched its first hard root beer and I had the privilege of creating the initial campaign for Best Damn Root Beer / BDRB. The alcohol content of this root beer was at the heart of the brief and producing visuals that speak to brewing (brewing cellar / sumptuous foam) were a requisite for this series. Lovely collaboration with Group360 and Nicole, Alaska, Frances, Ali, Mike and Wendy!
Handcrafted tea, organic ingredients and real ice – a delicate and visually lyrical approach for the new Pure Leaf / Tea House Collection campaign, by Pepsi-Lipton. To highlight craftsmanship and quality, we decided to shoot on a tea master’s work bench – a beautiful piece of white washed ash. We sent out two food styling teams to gather wild blackberry bushes in Upstate New York & Western Pennsylvania and our dedicated prop stylists and producers embarked on a round the globe journey for in-season White Honeysuckle. How we finally found it merits a separate post; all I can say it was incredible and worth all the effort! Thanks to Makoto Aoki at Swell for having the ‘back-up hand made super gorgeous White Honeysuckle’ ready, just in case.
Matthew Kenney’s latest venture opened its doors in February of 2016. Plant Food & Wine is a beautifully designed space with indoor and outdoor seating, situated in the artsy Wynwood district of Miami. Delicious creations by Executive Chef Scott Winegard grace the all plant-based menu. A pleasure to shoot and eat. To see the full series, please visit
The Art Directors Club of New York selected 24 aspiring creatives from 24 different cities around the globe, during their ADC Portfolio Nights. Each Portfolio Night city selected one person as their Portfolio Night All-Star. Throughout the first week of August, the All-Stars traveled to New York, where they participated in the third installment of ADC Portfolio Night All-Stars Week, to work together on a real creative project for a global brand.
I had the pleasure of hosting this incredible group of young creatives at OFFSET for a Drinks Photography workshop and fun shenanigans afterwards. Take a peek to meet the ADC All-Stars:
Very happy to announce that my work was selected again for the Communication Arts Photography Annual this year as well as for the London-based Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year Awards. Couldn’t be happier to be among such a select few talented photographers. I’ll let the lovely blog post by my agent do the talking for now…
Lovely multi day shoot with agency Weber Shandwick for all the new point of sale and in-store displays for Ragu Spaghetti & Pasta Sauces here in the United States. Space28 was the perfect work environment with the most beautiful & consistent daylight any food photographer could hope for. Grateful to my incredible team & crew who made it a wonderful and pleasant experience, shooting 25 recipes in three days and getting it all done in time with a smile on all our faces. An injection pen for type 2 diabetes treatments, with a needle as thin as a hair. Definitely an interesting challenge to light and to accomplish what was put forth by CDM: ‘So thin, patients can’t feel it – photographed elegantly, with the incredibly thin needle gauge apparent but still visible to the naked eye.’ Prop Styling by Alex Niki.
Together with creative agency Addison New York, we shot videos and stills for the annual report and online presentation of WhiteWave Foods (Silk Almond Milk, Horizon Organic Milk, Land O Lakes, Earthbound Farms Organic, etc.). As always, a brisk shooting schedule didn’t deter us from having fun – prop. stylist Alex Niki did an incredible job getting everything and everyone ready (including the talent) and food stylist Takako Kuniyuki brilliantly multi-tasked her way through this 4 day assignment. Shot at Noho Productions and Space28, it was a real pleasure working in an environment that made us forget at times that we actually were at work. Excellent art direction by James Taylor and wonderful art production by Rebecca Horne made this job a killer combination of creativity, a pleasant collaboration and quality work.
