Another demanding & fun liquid art campaign. To show the benefits of Nutrilite milkshakes, we were asked to shoot & create liquid body shapes. 40 gallons of Nutrilite chocolate & vanilla milkshake were poured, splashed, thrown and splattered along our custom made plexi rigs. Our well worn kiddie pool took another beating and the clean-up was epic. Thanks to Jiae, John & Kara for all their creative input, and to my fantastic team -> liquid stylist, botanical stylists, rig maker, assistant, digital tech and retoucher.
Lovely collaboration with New You Magazine for opening feature of ‘Beauty Now’. See full gallery -> here. Retoucher: Simon Eugster / Prop Stylist: Mark Borow / Assistant: Anton Vancamelbeke / Popsicle taster: Ellis K. Mueller. Sorry, no leftovers…
A lot of dedication and testing went into this shoot for the Spring 2014 campaign of French cosmetics client L’Oréal, for Clarisonic’s Festival of Colors launch. From creating a custom rig (expertly built by Megan Caponetto) to using Kapture laser triggers and Bron high-speed flash, everything had to be adjusted perfectly to capture the initial stages of powder explosions. Many thanks to Megan, Tim, Logan, Tomo & Sasha for their help and input throughout the assignment. Once more, I could rely on the support of a great team to blow stuff up and enjoy it!
Not sure if we can go any bigger than what we did this time! Mark built three more fish for Costa, among them a Steelhead Salmon, a Bonefish and an 11 foot Bluefin Tuna. Check out the impressive ‘making of’ and the stills from this series. We’re now up to 8 fish. Still no CGI, still no digital imaging, just fantastic art direction, model making and a few lighting tricks up my sleeves to capture each of them in-camera, in a single shot.
Wonderful project to start the year, for Brazilian beer brand Skol. Photographed different liquid spills, throws, pours, splashes and explosions to create the shape of the new Skol bottle. Retouching was done by the fine people of Manipula. I worked with the new PhaseOne IQ 180, an absolutely stunning digital back. Many thanks again to Resource Magazine! And here’s the link to the whole image series, including the stills of the bottles -> Skol Beer Brazil!
I finally had the chance to work again with stylist Megan Caponetto. It’s such a pleasure to shoot with someone who really puts in a 110% effort on each project, works exceptionally hard during pre-production as well as during the shoot, is creative, innovative and unwaveringly pleasant on top of that. Here’s a Red Bull infused cheers to Megan and her dedicated co-collaborator / husband, Tim.
